As a famous ad from the 1970s proclaimed, 'You can go anywhere in Levi's,' a statement that remains true today. But how is it that jeans can simultaneously express our individuality while also being a universal mass commodity?"

To find answers, I decided to dive deeper into jeans’ materiality. Wanting to know what makes denim fabric so versatile, attractive, and full of possibilities, I cut patches from discarded denim products and started, quite literally, unraveling them. Some yarns were brittle and frizzy, others were thick, straight, or elastic. Afterwards, I used weaving, knotting, and sewing techniques to reconnect the different patches, in ways suited to their particular material quality.

about

I am a textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. Through my work runs a tangible thread that is spun from questions about materials, hierarchies, traditions, patterns, shapes, and their relations. By means of artistic research, I aim to unravel them and investigate their potential to be interlaced in new ways.
