I am a textile artist, researcher, and writer. My urge to collect often forms the starting point of my work — whether it involves gathering images on my phone or stories from the past. From there, I translate this material into a textile object or an interactive situation. I am also interested in exploring the translation process itself: what changes, what gets lost, and what new (mental) images might emerge?
The objects and situations that result from this process exist in the liminal zone between opposites such as craft and art, masculinity and femininity, inside and outside, present and past. They challenge established systems and hierarchies and create space for a perspective on the world in which many different threads are entangled.
In 2019, I graduated from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, specialising in TXT (text & textile). I am currently pursuing the research Master's programme in Artistic Research at the University of Amsterdam. My work and research projects have been exhibited and presented in various national and international contexts, including the Icelandic Textile Center, Textielfestival x Leiden, Fashion Biennale Arnhem, and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
My texts on art and textiles have been published in, among others, Simulacrum, Metropolis M, and Locus—Journal for Cultural Sciences. I also work as a teacher and have previously worked as an exhibition and collection assistent at State of Concept and De Nederlandsche Bank.
Curious about my commissioned projects?
