*Woven on a TC2 loom. Many thanks to Corrie van Eijk from Digital Weaving.
A flag dancing in the wind, one moment legible, illegible the next. How much of what we know, do we know due to chance? And what remains hidden between the folds of the fabric? For this piece, I collected several textiles from thrift shops and my own house. I photographed them while they were being held and moved and made a collage with the results. Afterwards, I took the collage to a TC2 loom and translated it into a woven surface. A collaboration between my hands and the machine, with a shared agency over the final outcome.
The work was on view at the Gerrit Rietveld Graduation Show 2019 and Textielfestival x Leiden 2021.

about
I am a textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. Through my work runs a tangible thread that is spun from questions about materials, hierarchies, traditions, patterns, shapes, and their relations. By means of artistic research, I aim to unravel them and investigate their potential to be interlaced in new ways.
