A flag dancing in the wind, one moment legible, illegible the next. How much of what we know, do we know due to chance? And what remains hidden between the folds of the fabric? This woven piece belongs to a series of works that investigate the relationship between materiality, chance, and signification. For this series, I developed and explored different textile techniques to manipulate imagery and surfaces, including digital weaving, machine knitting, and hand-weaving combined with printing techniques.

The work was on view at the Gerrit Rietveld Graduation Show 2019 and Textielfestival x Leiden 2021.

about

Textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. I work with textiles and other material forms as a way of thinking and researching. In doing so, I treat these materials as tools to expose and unsettle taken-for-granted views and naturalized routines of daily life.
