A childhood memory, slowly fading away. How much of what we know, do we know due to chance? And what remains hidden between the folds of the fabric? The point of departure for this work was a story I wrote and illustrated when I was five years old, entitled De zonnebloem die kon praten (the sunflower that could talk). Eighteen years later, I printed the story onto a set of fine warp yarns, which allowed me to reintegrate the text and drawings into a woven strip. I chose thereby to cover or blur some areas and to highlight or emphasise other areas, mimicking the process of remembering and forgetting.

The work was on view at the Gerrit Rietveld Graduation Show 2019 and Textielfestival x Leiden 2021.
