site-specific installation
2017

A collaboration with Fieke Ruitinga, Cato Benschop, Katrin Naftz, and Mathilde Lalouette.
How can we create a narrative for a busy shopping street? As a group of five, we were invited to create a work for Eight Cubic Meters, a public gallery curated by Buro Rietveld, located on a narrow street in the centre of Amsterdam.

After several initial meetings—during which many big ideas were proposed and then set aside—we realised that the location called for a much more minimal approach. We decided to respond to the brief glimpses of passers-by by creating a setting for a story, rather than the story itself. As our material, we used fragments from our own writings, combined with an atmospheric, screen-printed blue backdrop.

I am a textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. Through my work runs a tangible thread spun from questions about materials, patterns, hierarchies, histories and traditions.
