How to make an artwork for a busy shopping street?

As a group of five, we were invited to make a work for Eight Cubic Meters, curated by Buro Rietveld. This public “gallery” is located in a narrow street in the centre of Amsterdam.

After several meetings where we kept discussing more and more big ideas, we came to the realisation that the location asks for a much more minimal approach. We decided to anticipate on the short glimpse of passers-by and to create a setting for a story, rather than the story itself. As imput we used fragments from our own writings, combined with an atmospheric, screen-printed, blue backbone.
