weaving snapshots

What happens when digital images are reinterpreted through the slow, tactile process of weaving? This handwoven tapestry is the result of an experiment in transforming quick photographic snapshots into a spatial and tactile object — one shaped by the parameters of touch, time, and tension.

This pieces has as a cotton warp and a weft of virgin wool from Greece, Iceland and the Netherlands.

about

Textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. I work with textiles and other material forms as a way of thinking and researching. I thereby treat these materials as tools to expose and unsettle taken-for-granted views and naturalized routines of daily life.
