Can data be soft? And can data visualisation become an expression of love? Web(log) is a woven visualisation of data drawn from my dad’s Blogspot account. His weblogs appear more quickly than most readers—including myself—can keep up with. In response, I chose to reciprocate his writing with the slow, deliberate gesture of weaving.

The work also gestures toward the deep historical connections between computing and weaving, connections echoed in the very word web. Beyond denoting a digital network, web can also mean “a fabric on a loom or in the process of being removed from a loom” (Merriam-Webster).

about

I am a textile artist, researcher, and writer based in Amsterdam. Through my work runs a tangible thread spun from questions about materials, patterns, hierarchies, history and traditions. Combining traditional and artistic research methods, I seek to unravel these themes and explore how they can be interlaced in new ways.
