Vertraagde wake (translated: slowed down wake) is a book written by my mum. By mixing two genres –autobiography and culture-philosophical essay– she discusses a tumultuous summer in her life 20 years ago. Her friends’ son passed away, followed by the death of a close friend. Soon after that she gave birth to her daughter (my sister), on the same day as her mother's funeral. For the book cover, I photographed my grandmother's necklace in different shapes, loosely reminiscent of life and death.
