Web(log) is a weave based on my dad’s weblog series.

Since 2011 when he started his first series, he has published over 1,5 thousand blogs in by now (2022) 14 different series. Irregularly yet frequently, he writes about and connects nearly everything that he reads, watches, listens to, experiences, recalls, and encounters. After 11 years, it is clear that the web that he has thereby created, has come to support him as much as it is supported by his input.

For this work, I departed from another definition of the word web as “a fabric on a loom or in process of being removed from a loom” (source: Merriam Webster). Based on that notion, I designed a weave with a warp based on the number of years the blog has existed for, with a weft based on the number of different blog series. When I finished weaving it, I took “the web” off the loom and gifted it to my dad who deemed it “the most beatiful bar graph”.
